Hunter 101: Beast Mastery Rotation

This is part two of a three-part guide.

[Part 1: SV guide] [Part 3: MM guide]

Beast Mastery Shot Priority

  • Kill Shot
  • Bestial Wrath
  • Kill Command
  • Focus Fire
  • Arcane Shot
  • Serpent Sting
  • Cobra Shot

Beast Mastery is the spec where your pet is more important than ever before because your pet will be doing something like 40% of your overall damage. Your three highest priority shots for most of the fight directly deal with the damage your pet is doing.

In most cases, you’ll want to use Bestial Wrath on cooldown. BIGREDPET pairs great with an on-use agility trinket such as the Kiroptyric Sigil, as it gives you massive amounts of burst damage. This is why BM is the best spec for tendon damage on Heroic Spine of Deathwing.

You want to make sure you keep your Focus Fire up at all times, because it increases your haste and restores focus to your pet. Try to use it when it procs, which is usually every ~18 seconds. The buff lasts 20 seconds, so it can essentially be “up” at all times if you time your cooldowns right.

The Longevity talent significantly reduces the cooldown of your pet’s special abilities, so you can pet twist and essentially have Call of the Wild up for EVERY SINGLE Bestial Wrath, increasing your DPS even more during BIGREDPET.

BM is the “easiest” spec because it’s the most forgiving and least complex. If you make a mistake or miss a cooldown by a second or two, your damage done won’t instantly tank.

As always, when Kill Shot is available, that will be your highest priority.
